Why Macro photography? Well, I like to use it to distort the images a little or just to get really close to the subject. Macro is great for picking up detail in the tiniest of subjects.

In the first image I used Macro to pick up the detail in my daughter's favorite earrings. I didn't want to get too close, because I still wanted her as past of the image but not the main focus.

Here in this photo I used Macro to pick up the tiniest of creatures, an ant, in an oleander flower.

Although, this is not a good picture beacuse of the heavy shadows, I think serves as a good example of Macro. The detail in the fingernail is picked up as well as the snail.

These peppers were also taken in Macro. The reason for Macro here isn't to get intricate detail but using a wide angle I couldn't get too close without distorting the image.

Here is a banana tree trunk captured on Macro.

I like the style of this shot. It's the Russian for "I love you". I was doodling and the camera was nearby.
